My girlfriend and I are visiting Italy in early October. We'll begin our trip in Venice and after 3 nights will be travelling south to reach Positano in the Amalfi Coast. The trip from Venice to the Amalfi Coast seems like a long stretch so we have been looking at different small hill towns we decided to skip Florence to stop at, either for a bite or for a night stay. In particular, we were really interested in seeing Orvieto. We saw several youtube videos and the town looks amazing! Does anyone have recommendations on where to say, and things to do in Orvieto. Also, would one night from 11am to early morning the next day be sufficient to enjoy the town?

On our otherwise chilly visit to Orvieto, we were warmly welcomed at this traditional restaurant with a delicious array of cheese plate, bruschetta, mouth watering truffle pasta, boar dish and lovely dolci. The prices were reasonable, service friendly and experience memorable. We will return! We really lucked out getting a table at this restaurant. This was the one place I really wanted to try on our Italy trip, but when we walked in and they asked if we had reservations, I was about to panic. Once we sat down, the waitress was extremely helpful as we worked our way through the menu, making recommendations and explaining the dishes. The food was amazing.

In the historic heart of Spoleto just steps from the Piazza della Liberta', Ristorante Pentagramma is a haven of Umbrian fare. San Lorenzo Restaurant, located in the heart of Perugia, offers an elegant and intimate atmosphere. Bistrot del Duca, in the beautiful town of Citta della Pieve, warrants lots of adjectives: tiny, cute, welcoming, friendly, tasty, rustic, charming, delicious. Delicious approaches of traditional and new tastes beginning from the hors - d'oeuvres, to excellent examples of salami and whole milk cheeses of local production with special jam, variegated honeys and Mantova's mustards. In the classic beauty of the Umbrian hills, the restaurant inside the Charme and Relax hotel, La Corte di Bettona, is formally named La Taverna del Giullare, though it's more commonly referred to as La Corte. The happy combination between the gastronomical tradition in Umbria and the chef's creativity gives birth to a great cuisine, a good balance of tradition and modernity. The name is Braceria - Pizzeria Mangiafuoco, telling you clearly that their specialties are grilled meats and fresh-made pizzas.

It is located before te yellow school. It is a very special family run restaurant and Pizzeria: you will find pizza custom tailored for American British etc!!! Maurizio the owner has roman origins and is know here for a very good pizza with rosmarino as appetizer. He also has a good wine list. It is in Piazza Santa Maria in Paciano, at the mainvillage wall door. Il is always closed on Wednesday. I suggest to book if you wish to eat out on a Saturday or Sunday.

At this savvy Michelin-starred restaurant in a side street near Campo de' Fiori, fish is the focus, brought daily from the waters of Ponza to Rome. Right off the Piazza Navonna with its tourist trap restaurants is a bastion of good food and service, all at a moderate price. Between Largo Argentina and Campo de' Fiori, this fine fish restaurant serves the freshest and most creatively prepa red catch in the city centre. Built over the foundations of the Teatro Pompeo, this palazzo now houses an atmospheric restaurant, which combines a sense of history with contemporary style. This revamped, gorgeous spacethink chandeliers and soaring original brickwork ceilingshouses one of the better seafood spots in the Eternal City.

Hotel is strategically positioned. Room was well sized but the aircon was not cooling.. Shower was too small. But bathroom was well sized. Breakfast was amazing with great setting. The reception staff were very

  1. The landscapes and hill towns of Umbria are familiar because they are little changed since painted by the Renaissance masters.
