The tune of As The World Falls Down is heard at the start of the film, as it is the tune played by the music box in Sarah's room at the start of the film. The song is featured most prominently during the ballroom scene where Jareth attempts to seduce Sarah with visions of an opulent, decadent lifestyle. The song plays as Sarah wanders through the ballroom, continuing as she is eventually found by Jareth and drawn into a dance with him. Although the song is mostly overlayed onto the scene, Jareth can be seen singing part of the song when he is dancing with Sarah. The song fades out as Sarah remembers that she has to save her brother Toby, dissolving into the background as the strikes of a clock resonate around the ballroom.

Magic Dance is a song written and performed by David Bowie for the soundtrack of Labyrinth. You remind me of the babe. What babe? I saw my baby, crying hard as babe could cry What could I do My baby's love had gone And left my baby blue Nobody knew. What kind of magic spell to use Slime and snails Or puppy dogs' tails Thunder or lightning Then baby said Dance magic, dance dance magic, dance Dance magic, dance dance magic, dance Put that baby spell on me Jump magic, jump jump magic, jump Jump magic, jump jump magic, jump Put that magic jump on me Slap that baby, make him free.

It was the second of three soundtrack releases in which Bowie had a major role, following Christiane F. Bowie was approached to take part in the film in during his Serious Moonlight Tour when he saw early designs for the movie and a video of The Dark Crystal. Bowie had wanted to make music for a children's film and saw this as his chance. When a great artist dies, specifically from something horribly universal like cancer, it is undoubtedly heartbreaking. Even though the multi-talented man brought so much joy into our collective lives, David Bowie's death at 69 , an age I consider a minimum of 10 years too early, brings so much sadness. But it's OK to be sad, guys, because it's all a part of this process we call life, and that sadness doesn't mean that we can't take a moment and think about the good times. Nay, the best times. Yes, despite years of Bowie success — killing the game in MTV's first music videos, appealing to various audiences of all types of people, being a pioneer for LGBT people — I consider the Goblin King his greatest success. If you're a fan of Labyrinth, you know the movie is probably not objectively the best movie ever.
