The first installment of the "trilogy" was first sold in a beta version Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Beta in late Fantasy Flight initially drew criticism for releasing a beta version, making people pay twice, and for the extra expense of the unusual custom dice; but reviews after launch were enthusiastic about the dice, with Game Informer saying "In practice, this system offers tremendous flexibility to allow the players to participate in the storytelling process, rather than just waiting for the GM to respond after a die roll. The players talk together about how to interpret a roll of the dice, and shape the results to make the most exciting story. It also speaks strongly to the cinematic nature of the Star Wars universe; characters in the movies often succeed or fail along with potent side effects.
In that time, they have produced seven standalone hardcover adventures, spread out over each of the Star Wars RPG lines. Fantasy Flight Star Wars. This adventure is for the Force and Destiny line, so it focuses on Force sensitive player characters and things that would utilize the Force as a theme. At that point in time, the Witches of Dathomir were split much like the Jedi and the Sith, with the Nightsisters being the dark side representatives. Sterling Hershey is in his prime with a well crafted adventure that has me excited to get it on the table, and pleased with how much support is provided for the GM within. Worth a buy. Not only that, but from the generous game master notes and sidebars, I feel supported with the information I would need behind the screen to ensure it is well paced and engaging. To make the most of this excellent adventure, you will want to be running it for Force sensitive player characters. Ghosts of Dathomir does a lot to help out the game master.
Fantasy Flight Games had their own attempt at producing a Star Wars roleplaying game, it's actually pretty good. Not to be confused with the D6 system with the same name made by West End Games. A very unique form of roleplaying game though, in that it relies less on raw statistical power and more on speciality dice sold by FFG. However, unlike the Warhammer 40, roleplaying games produced by Fantasy Flight, they all use exactly the same format and rulesets and are completely compatible with one another with only minor differences in the reason for why they adventure, though all of the mechanics can be used simultaneously. Most published material tries very hard to keep the PCs from meaningfully challenging the "main characters" or otherwise becoming powerful enough to affect canon; one infamous EotE module declared that just being in the same building as Darth Vader was an automatic TPK. Depending on the rulebook that the characters are drawn from, the players are hooked into the universe using a variety of mechanical effects.
With its complete, learn-as-you-go adventure, players can open the box, ignite their lightsabers, and explore their destinies as Force users in the Star Wars galaxy. Pre-generated character folios keep the rules right at your fingertips, while custom dice and an exciting narrative gameplay system advance your story with every roll. Set during the height of the Galactic Civil War, after the destruction of the Jedi Order, the Force and Destiny Beginner Game contains everything three to five players need to begin exploring the mysteries of the Force. Add to Basket. Force and Destiny is the third of three standalone, but fully cross-compatible role-playing systems. Players and GMs can use these materials separately or combine them as they see fit in order to carve out a unique, custom role-playing experience. The Beginner Game for Force and Destiny thrusts players into the midst of a daring rescue mission as Force users who have managed to find each other after the fall of the Jedi Order.

Monday, October 29, cybernetic implant cap house rule. A character may only purchase and install a number of Cybernetic enhancements equal to 1 plus his ranks in the Resilience skill. Many characters will now have easier access to more cybernetics at a lower investment cost, without sacrificing a relationship to the physical characteristic, without changing the normal maximum cybernetics allowed, and without being forced to invest in directions that may be far outside the characters desired path or intent. Characters with high Brawn will be required to also invest in Resilience if they are interested in high levels of cybernetics. With the number of cybernetics a character can have tied to Brawn rating, this forces many character types to increase their Brawn if they want to do more than dabble in cybernetics. Unfortunately, increasing a characteristic is often a huge investment and in this case, doing so may not be in line with the rest of the character concept or desired direction.
